Apple AirTags are currently on everyone’s lips. The little trackers can save you a lot of time. Because they make searching for keys, wallets and the like a thing of the past. But what can Apple AirTags really do, what offers are there and can useful alternatives be found?

Apple AirTags have been adding to the technology company’s portfolio for some time. The trackers should make our lives much easier. The search for keys, wallets, bags and much more is no longer necessary with the use of the coin-like chips. We have summarized all information, cheap offers and alternatives for you.

Apple AirTags: what can you use them for, and how do they even work?

Apple AirTags are classic UWB and Bluetooth trackers in the shape and size of a two euro coin. Using ultra-broadband technology and the associated app “Where is?” you can easily find your items that you have previously equipped with an AirTag. A distinction is made between closer and more distant things. If you have misplaced your keys in the apartment, you can easily find out where they are using the “exact search” function. The app gives you the direction and the distance to the object of your search and guides you.

Should the item you are looking for – such as your backpack – move outside the UWB range, the Bluetooth tracker will take over. If the search object is within the Bluetooth range of another Apple user, it is encrypted and sent to you without saving the data and a signal indicating the location.

The Apple AirTag runs on a CR2032 battery that Apple claims should last a full year and is replaceable. The basis of the calculation is the assumption that you are looking for your AirTag, i.e. your object, once a day by means of an acoustic signal. You will be informed about the weak battery in your “Where is?” App.

Tip: Currently there are Apple AirTags on offer. With the four-pack you save 20% directly.

In which areas can an Apple AirTag be used?

You have many options when using one or more Apple AirTags. Whether in your wallet, your bag or as a special key ring – the AirTags are good and useful to use due to their small size and, if necessary, with a special tag. In addition, the AirTags are waterproof to the same extent as an iPhone.

Depending on the saddle, you can also equip your bike with an Apple AirTag and, with a bit of luck, track down a theft.

Devices that cooperate with Apple AirTag are of course also from Apple. This includes:

  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max

Especially the Key chain are very popular as they offer various fastening options with a (metal) ring or a (leather) strap. Whether from Apple itself or from other providers is entirely up to your taste.

These alternative trackers are available for selection

Of course, Apple didn’t invent the world’s first tracker with its AirTags, just optimized it. Other tech companies have developed their own versions of trackers. So offers Esky a good offer as an alternative to the AirTag. Although the total of six trackers that belong to a set only send acoustic signals – they are still a good aid within your own four walls, the office and the like.
