Apple: Brussels requests compliance of the iPad

(CercleFinance.com) – The European Commission considered on Monday that Apple’s iPad must also comply with the obligations established within the framework of its regulation on digital markets.

This decision means that the device’s operating system will also have to comply with the compliance measures put in place by Brussels, in particular to allow users to easily uninstall any software application on the iPad.

Users should also be able to easily change default settings and select, via selection screens, other browsers or search engines on their iPad.

The Commission indicates that it has granted a period of six months for Apple to comply with this interoperability obligation.

The Apple firm is considered by the European Union, alongside Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Microsoft, as one of the ‘six gatekeepers’ that must comply with the obligation of fair markets in the digital.
