Apple exceeds 3 trillion market cap for seconds

The tech giant very briefly exceeded $ 3 trillion on Wall Street on January 3, 2021 before declining. A new record.

It’s a year that starts off strong. For a few seconds on Monday, January 3, 2021, Apple exceeded $ 3 trillion in market capitalization in the United States. An unprecedented figure, but which was only reached for a few seconds before 8 p.m. (French time), the action then having retreated.

3 trillion is more than the total CAC 40 (2.7 trillion dollars on January 4, 2022), or the gross domestic product of the United Kingdom.

The company at the head of Wall Street

This is not the first time that the company founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs has broken records on Wall Street. It was already in the lead when it reached 1,000 billion in 2018, and 2,000 billion in 2020. The only other firm that follows it above the 2,000 billion on the stock market is Microsoft, around 2,500 billion on Tuesday 4 January 2022. Amazon is only slightly above 1.7 trillion when Tesla is at 1200 billion. Facebook remains below 1 trillion.

Apple has managed to maintain its results despite the crisis in electronic components. The figures of the Californian company specializing in the sale of technological devices, iPhone in the lead, were carried by the Covid-19 pandemic and the growth of teleworking. But the group at the apple is also diversifying by investing in services, payments or even music, as well as in emerging sectors such as virtual reality and autonomous cars.
