If you haven’t adopted iCloud Drive yet, Apple is forcing your hand by shutting down its old platform. Here’s how you can make the transition.
In its official documentation, Apple confirms that its service iCloud documents and data is no longer supported and is now replaced by iCloud Drive.
Apple imposes iCloud Drive, a service at the heart of its ecosystem strategy
The Cupertino company explains that users who were still using this platform saw their account automatically migrate to the new iCloud Drive solution, without affecting the storage space occupied by recorded files.
iCloud Drive is available on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac and Windows PC as an app. The service is also accessible from a browser via the iCloud.com website.
iCloud documents and data was notably limited by the fact that the files were kept in folders that could only be accessed from the application itself. With iCloud Drive, owners of an iPhone or iPad can simply go to their Files app in iOS and iPadOS, for example.
How to set up iCloud Drive
The migration being done by itself, all you have to do is activate iCloud Drive to enjoy it. On iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, go to settings and tap your name. Select Section iCloud then activate the option iCloud Drive.
On Mac, open the Apple menu, then the system preferences. If you are on a later version than macOS Mojave, you must also click on your Apple ID. Choose iCloudsign in with your credentials if necessary, then select iCloud Drive.
If you’re more web-experienced, iCloud.com is where it’s at. Log in and then select one of these categories: Pages, Numbers, Keynote Where iCloud Drive. You can then choose to switch to iCloud Drive.
