iPhone 14, Watch Pro, AirPods Pro 2… The Apple keynote program is becoming more and more precise. Here is a complete recap before the official presentation which will take place on our Twitch channel, this Wednesday, September 7 at 7 p.m.
Like every year, rumors about the vintage of new iPhones are rife. A few hours before the keynote, which will take place on Wednesday, September 7 at 7 p.m. in France — and which you can follow on our Twitch channel —, the conference program is being refined. Let’s do a check in.
iPhone 14
The iPhone 14s have been gradually revealing themselves for months, so much so that there should be few surprises. As for three years already, four iPhone models are expected in 2022: two Pro versions of course, but also two more classic versions. However, this list does not include an iPhone Mini, but rather an iPhone 14 Max, possibly dubbed Plus, as more and more sources indicate.
If we summarize the information we have on the eve of the keynote, the two basic models would evolve very little, except at the level of the photo. The screen would be identical to that of the iPhone 13, the notch would be retained and the processor should be that of last year. Apple would not plan to offer the A16 to the iPhone 14 and 14 Max (or Plus), but would simply integrate the Apple A15 Bionic that is currently found in the iPhone 13 Pro. The biggest changes should be reserved for the iPhone 14 Pro. The notch would disappear in favor of a punch, which would however accommodate the technology necessary for the operation of Face ID. iOS 16
The back-to-school keynote is also an opportunity to reiterate what was announced at WWDC last June. Conference dedicated to the iPhone requires, iOS 16 should therefore point the end of its code. Apple’s annual smartphone update will take advantage of this to get a release date, which should match that of the iPhone 14’s on sale.
On the other hand, iPadOS 16 will not be there, because the Cupertino company has announced that it will postpone the release of the tablet OS for the month of October. A one-month delay due to some problems with Center Stage, the main novelty of this version.
Apple Watch Series 8
As with its iPhones, Apple should not be satisfied with a single connected watch. In addition to an 8 model, a Pro version could see the light of day, accompanied by an SE variant. Rumors point to a new design on the apple tocantes, but this is information that we already had for the Series 7 in 2021… which did not experience a design change. Chances are that everything will once again be the same, but we are never immune to a surprise.
The Series 8 should integrate a new sensor, at the base planned for the Series 7. Indeed, the measurement of the temperature could make its appearance on the new model of watch, but also on its Pro variant. This could be the only big novelty of this model, in addition to the addition of a chip that we hope is more recent. All eyes should be on the Pro version, which should adopt a larger size, increasing to 47 or 49 mm. A nice increase would almost offer a 2-inch panel, which is big enough for a connected watch.
It is also rumored that it could be flatter in its design, at least at the level of the display. Rounded contours could be retained. Mention Pro obliges, this edition would be more resistant, more adventurous. She would gain new functions, new buttons, as well as a larger battery.
The third watch model could be a new SE version, or even a watch entirely dedicated to children. A bet for Apple which is however not at its first attempt with the launch in 2020 of the family configuration allowing to create a special child account – which makes it possible to follow him or to block his access to certain elements. Either option should be priced quite low, normally under $300.
AirPods Pro 2
Audio should not be outdone during this September keynote. If that of 2021 was the subject of the announcement of the AirPods 3, that of 2022 should see the AirPods Pro 2 arrive on the scene. The new model should be born with a slight aesthetic overhaul, as well as some new features. The first would be support for ALAC (Apple Lossless), a lossless compression format available in particular on Apple Music. Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity would be included, as would a new chip (probably the Apple H2). At the level of the charging case, very few changes would be expected. Moreover, the abandonment of the Lightning port does not seem planned for this generation.
