News touch tablets Apple could well show the end of their screen before the end of October.

In recent weeks, on the Apple brand side, all eyes have been on the release of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro. If the iPhone 12 has also been talked about again, and it should soon receive a new update, Apple’s tablets are intended to be much more discreet.

But rest assured, this silence could well hide important announcements. Indeed, new iPads are about to be marketed, if we are to believe the information held by a leaker renowned for the reliability of his sources.

The OLED screen is not for now

A little earlier this month, we told you about the probable arrival of OLED on iPads from 2026. Yes, as surprising as it may seem, this technology is still not integrated into iPad screens. Apple brand tablets. As a reminder, we had to wait until the release of the iPhone X, in 2017, to see the first OLED panels arrive on Apple smartphones.

If rumors currently point to the possibility of seeing a 15-inch iPad Pro with an OLED screen, it seems that the iPad Mini and iPad Air could also benefit from it within the next three years.

But until Apple decides to adopt this screen technology for its different ranges of tablets, we will have to make do with devices equipped with LCD or mini-LED screens. That being said, the Californian brand plans to incorporate some new features for its future iPad Air and iPad Mini. According to insider Instant Digital (via Weibo), these are even on the verge of being marketed.

New iPads for the month of October?

According to Instant Digital, whose information is relayed to us by our colleagues at Neowin, Apple will reportedly launch the iPad Air 6 and iPad mini 7 later this month. The devices could therefore all benefit from major updates (OLED not being one of them), starting with the integration of the M2 chip for the sixth generation iPad Air.

As a reminder, the previous model had an M1 processor. This SoC change should therefore allow the iPad Air to significantly gain performance and see its processing speeds optimized. For its part, the new iPad mini would also benefit from a slight refresh, since it would abandon the A15 Bionic chip in favor of the A16.

Still according to information communicated by Instant Digital, the Cupertino company would offer a first generation Apple Pencil equipped with a USB-C port. Like the new iPhones, this one would abandon its aging lightning connector.

Beyond these new features, the insider claims that the iPad Air 6, iPad Mini 7 and iPad Air 11 will be deployed before the end of October. Apple’s new toys should also limit the “jelly scrolling” problems encountered by certain users when the tablet is in a vertical position.

Apple iPad Air 5 (2022)

  • A design as attractive as ever
  • A beautiful 10.9 inch screen
  • The M1 processor is bursting with power

The iPad Air (2020) obtained a score of 9 in our columns and it would have been logical to award the same score to this latest iPad Air. Indeed, the touchscreen tablet remains just as recommendable as the previous generation.

Its new M1 processor, without disrupting uses, offers disproportionate power for the general public and will allow the device to still be as relevant in a few years, even after several iPadOS updates. Other smaller improvements, like the new FaceTime camera, also make the user experience even more comfortable. Finally, the design remains one of the most accomplished seen on a tablet.

Why only an 8 then? Because Apple lacks bite for our taste and only offers a simple seasonal update of its device. The brand could have reviewed a few weak points that are often pointed out, including autonomy that has not changed for more than a decade or basic storage that is simply ridiculous today. However, it prefers to rest on its achievements, offering an excellent product but without any notable improvement other than increased performance and the arrival of 5G.

If you don’t have an iPad Air or if your tablet is too many years old, this iPad Air (2022) is made for you and will satisfy you, whatever your uses. For the most tech-savvy among us, we will have to wait for a possible iPad Pro M2 to see Apple innovate and push the limits of its touchscreen tablet to another level.
