In Tech as elsewhere, patenting these inventions has become essential. The sinews of war itself. So companies file them all the way with different organizations around the world. And in this game, Apple is not the last to go for it.

Among the multiple patent applications filed by the apple brand, one recently obtained may be puzzling. The USPTO, United States Patent and Trademark Office, has granted a patent for… a car sunroof.

A light-filtering roof that can be opened

We thought the Titan project was abandoned, but it may not be so. The sunroof patented by Apple would offer a glass with variable opacity, which means that the driver would have complete freedom to modulate the transparency according to his comfort.

It would therefore be possible to choose the entry of light, with or without an open roof.

In 2018, the Cupertino company had already obtained a patent for a system of rails allowing a very wide opening of the roof, as well as a patent for a haptic feedback in the seat of the passenger compartment which would allow “a dynamic seating system » thanks to the on-board computer.

This mainly tends to confirm that Apple is continuing its progress on its car project, beyond simple additions for the Car Play system. We are talking about an autonomous car as well as partnerships with renowned car manufacturers. One thing is certain: the arrival of a stamped vehicle will still be a few years away. Or never.
