Apple’s mixed reality headset, the VisionPro, was the big attraction at the start of the year in the tech world. But since then, the public seems to have already moved on.

A new production from Apple is always an event. This is why the brand’s famous mixed reality headset was long awaited, even though there have been high-performance virtual reality headsets on the market for a long time, such as the Meta Quest 3. As soon as it was released, we saw many Many people flock to the App Store to try and buy the Vision Pro. A short-lived improvement, if we are to believe this information from Mark Gurman.

Sales already at half mast for Apple’s first headset

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, always very aware of Apple news, is categorical. The Vision Pro fashion has already run out of steam across the Atlantic.

Demand for demonstrations is plummeting. People who make appointments often don’t show up, and sales – at least at some locations – have gone from a few units per day to a handful in an entire week » he explained.

Direct consequence, still according to the same source, Apple had to be more aggressive on the product, in particular by offering a discount on the Vision Pro. A discount that was displayed at the top of the brand’s website.

The price and the impractical side involved?

Because the price is surely what puts off all lovers of the bitten apple the most. As a reminder, the Apple Vision Pro is sold in the United States at a price of $3,499 per unit, an already steep price, which in addition is only a base, certain accessories (such as the case or the additional batteries) which must then be purchased separately. The people who can afford such a purchase (and want to) represent a fairly limited market.

Likewise, several criticisms quickly emerged about the impractical side of the helmet, which tended to cause neck pain and headaches. Its use is also less “instantaneous” than opening a computer or a smartphone. Suffice it to say that Apple still has work to do to make it a mainstream product.
