The series based on the 1927 masterpiece is currently in pre-production for the streaming platform
and Apple has not yet communicated any release window.

If the series Mr Robot
ended after four seasons in 2019, its creator Sam Esmail now has another project, and not the least, since he is tackling one of the monuments of science fiction in cinema.

A century-old work soon to be modernized for streaming

Apple TV+ has just announced the launch of a new series adapted from Metropolisthe cult film by Fritz Lang released in 1927, almost a century ago.

As a reminder, Metropolis depicted a dystopian megalopolis in 2026 where the powerful lived on top of gigantic towers, and the rest of the population survived in the lowlands. A mad scientist created an android that would lead to the revolt of the workers against the ruling class, but also of the son of the master of this city, who wanted to create a better future for men.

The challenge for Sam Esmail, who will officiate as screenwriter, director and showrunner, will be to seriously modernize the original work and update the themes without betraying the original purpose.

A hell of a project, therefore, which will take time to materialize. This series Metropolis is only in its pre-production phase, and Apple does not give any additional information as to the release date. We will have to wait until 2023 at best to discover this already highly anticipated adaptation.

The arrival of Apple was closely scrutinized by observers and at the time of writing, the manufacturer does not have to be ashamed of its platform. Yes the catalog is anemic but the series are all of excellent quality. The service is open to third-party media and the video quality is undoubtedly the best currently available on the market. With a price of only 4.99 euros per month, Apple therefore offers a dispensable product that is worth trying.
