Apple TV+ snaps up Marvel star: MCU darling travels Antarctica on foot

What a deal, the iPhone manufacturer grabs a real Marvel hero for its in-house streaming service Apple TV+. None other than Tom “Loki” Hiddleston will soon be in front of the camera for an exciting biopic series. Well, if Disney+ doesn’t get mad at that, right?

Tom Hiddleston’s most famous role is undoubtedly that of Loki in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Since his first appearance in “Thor” (2011), the god of practical jokes has been up to mischief and recently even got his own eponymous series on Disney+. Villain, anti-hero or maybe a real hero after all? Loki is anything but a black and white character. And the next film role should also be a new challenge for Hiddleston.

Apple+ brings Marvel star Tom Hiddleston on board

As Apple is now making public, The actor will soon be taking on the role of British explorer and adventurer Henry Worsley in the series The White Darkness for Apple TV+ (Source: Apple). The film adaptation is based on the non-fiction book of the same name by author David Grann, which describes the Antarctic expeditions of British explorer and army officer Henry Worsley. With the following words, Apple describes the content of the upcoming series:

The White Darkness is based on the real life of Henry Worsley, a devoted husband and father, a former soldier, a man of great honor and sacrifice, but also a man possessed by a thirst for adventure, culminating in an epic journey manifested on foot through Antarctica. Starring Hiddleston as Worsley, this is a compelling tale of courage, love, family and the extremes of human ability.

Worth noting: Hiddleston will not only star in front of the camera, he is also working as executive producer on the new series. It is not yet known when we will see “The White Darkness”. However, we can already look forward to The Essex Serpent on Apple TV+. The new series with Tom Hiddleston starts on May 13th.

Hiddleston’s final appearance as Loki in the series of the same name:

Don’t worry: Loki is staying in the MCU

Incidentally, Disney+ and the managers responsible are definitely not mad at Hiddleston or Apple. After all, the second season of Loki has long been decided and the actor is not exclusively tied to Marvel. For example, you could already see him in Germany in 2016 in “The Night Manager” on Amazon Prime Video, originally on BBC One.
