Has HDR10+ already arrived on the Apple TV with the new tvOS 16? According to media reports, the HDR standard that Apple previously removed from the update planning has now migrated to the streaming box with the new software generation.
This is reported by the British TV specialist portal “HDTVtest”, the Apple blog “Macerkopf” and also the Samsung-specific site “SamMobile”. The HDR10+ co-developed by the Koreans would be a welcome upgrade, especially for Samsung televisions, since the TV sets from the world market leader have not yet been compatible with Dolby Vision.
HDR10+ for Apple TV: Much confusion, little clarity
However, it seems strange that weeks before the update was released, Apple removed all information about compatibility with HDR10+ from the corresponding lists for tvOS 16 and also those for its new mobile operating systems – and also an already updated Apple TV 4K with tvOS 16 in the system settings only shows HDR10 as the HDR standard.
Apple itself has not commented on HDR10+ since the update information disappeared. It is therefore quite possible that the support will only be added in an upcoming smaller update.
