Apple unveils its new tablets for the professional environment. So here are the iPad Pro 11 M2 and iPad Pro 12.9 M2. On the program: more power.
We’ve been waiting for them, here they are finally announced. Apple did not need keynote dedicated to unveil its two latest products: the iPad Pro 11 M2 and iPad Pro 12.9 M2. All the salt of these tablets obviously lies in the integration of the latest house chip, the Apple M2. In addition to these slates, we were also treated to an iPad 10 tasting USB-C and an Apple TV 4K 2022.
On the program, we therefore have 11 and 12.9 inch tablets aesthetically very close to the previous generation – iPad Pro 11 M1 and iPad Pro 12.9 M1. Thus, it is necessary to underline the maintenance of the flat edges always in the air of time at Apple which also adopts this design on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro.
Please note that the 11-inch iPad Pro M2 benefits from a Liquid Retina (LCD and 120 Hz) while the 12.9-inch version benefits from a Liquid Retina XDR panel (mini LED and 120 Hz).
The power of the iPad Pro M2
The iPad Pro M2s promise to be “ up to 15% fasterthan on their predecessors with the M1 chip. Count on faster graphics performance up to 35% too. Overall, Apple promises more power everywhere, especially for tasks requiringmachine learning.
The 100 GB/s unified memory bandwidth of the Apple M2 boasts a 50% improvement over the previous generation. As a result, multitasking and resource-intensive actions can be more easily managed. These devices are therefore clearly aimed at creative people who have to work on 3D models or heavy editing.
Also note that thanks to the Apple M2, these tablets can film in ProRes.
Apple Pencil 2 and iPadOS 16
On the program of these new iPad Pro M2, we also find compatibility with the 2nd generation Apple Pencil. “Apple Pencil is now detected up to 12mm above the screento make using it on the tablet even more comfortable. The brand also mentions some smart features such as the fact that, on Scribble, text fields automatically expand when you approach the stylus or that handwriting turns into digital text even faster.
The company takes the opportunity to appeal to developers by calling on them to exploit the potential of the Apple Pencil 2 on their third-party applications.
As long as we are on the software part, know that these iPad Pros will natively ship iPadOS 16. The focus is particularly on the Stage Manager function. Hopefully the problems encountered in beta will be fixed on the stable version of the OS. The deployment of iPadOS 16.1 is expected for October 24.
WiFi 6E and 5G
The speed promised by the iPad Pro M2 (11 and 12.9 inches) also depends on connectivity. In this respect, Apple is betting on 5G compatibility – except for the cheaper Wi-Fi-only versions.
Above all, the apple relies here on the latest Wi-Fi 6E standard. “Downloads can reach 2.4 Gbps, twice as fast as the previous generation“.
iPad Pro M2 price and release date
Both tablets are available with storage configurations of 128, 256 and 512 GB or even 1 and 2 TB. They will be available for sale from October 26, 2022. However, you can already pre-order them from today .
The iPad Pro 11 M2 and announced at the minimum official price of 1069 euros in France; and prices start at 1269 euros for the 5G compatible version.
