An imposing mixed reality headset, if only for its price of $3,500 per unit. Obviously, any tech product with a screen can be damaged. Except that users explain that they simply put aside their still well-preserved helmet to sleep, before waking up the next day and observing the appearance of this scratch.
A production-related problem?
For the moment, the problem would be quite localized, and would affect few people. But, as the media points out Engadgetthe fact that the crack has the same appearance on different Vision Pro units could suggest a problem linked to the production of one or more batches.
For the moment, Apple did not wish to comment. If a production problem was not recognized, owners of the damaged Vision Pro would have to deal with costly repairs. Replacing the screen would thus require 300 dollars with the AppleCare guarantee, rising to 800 dollars without it. What reason to wait a few years, and the famous “ideal form” of the Vision Pro, expected within four generations?
