A number of owners of theApple Vision Pro reported the appearance of a crack on their helmet. Bad publicity for such an expensive device?

At the beginning of the month, Americans had the right before the rest of the world to treat themselves to Apple’s latest beast, the Vision Pro. An imposing mixed reality headset, if only for its price of $3,500 per unit. Even for Apple fans, generally capable of certain sacrifices for the products of their favorite brand, this was a significant budget. Suffice to say that the little problem that has just been spotted might not be very appreciated.

Cracks on the Apple Vision Pro screen

First controversy in sight for the Apple Vision Pro? The helmet, which sold well for its extremely high price, would indeed not be free of defects. A certain number of users recently indicated on Reddit that they had observed the appearance of a crack on the screen of their little gem.

Obviously, any tech product with a screen can be damaged. Except that users explain that they simply put aside their still well-preserved helmet to sleep, before waking up the next day and observing the appearance of this scratch.

A production-related problem?

For the moment, the problem would be quite localized, and would affect few people. But, as the media points out Engadgetthe fact that the crack has the same appearance on different Vision Pro units could suggest a problem linked to the production of one or more batches.

For the moment, Apple did not wish to comment. If a production problem was not recognized, owners of the damaged Vision Pro would have to deal with costly repairs. Replacing the screen would thus require 300 dollars with the AppleCare guarantee, rising to 800 dollars without it. What reason to wait a few years, and the famous “ideal form” of the Vision Pro, expected within four generations?
