Some time ago, Apple released the developer tools that allow third parties to create their own apps for the new Vision Pro mixed reality headset. Meanwhile, Apple continues to work on the VisionOS operating system, which includes some features from the start.

- Group face time: Even if Face Time supports more people on the Vision Pro, you will probably only be able to permanently pin nine people. You should be able to share your “environment”, i.e. the background.
- Personal Virtual Camera: Since third-party manufacturers don’t get access to the cameras, Apple only provides the ability to take photos and videos with the persona, which is created through face scans.
- Optical ID: Authentication should work similar to Face ID by pressing the top button twice. Without authentication, you can’t buy apps, use Apple Pay, or use your Mac with the headset.
- Install apps via iPhone / iPad: Users will probably be able to install apps for the Vision Pro from their iPhone or iPad without putting on the headset.
- pointer: A pointing stick allows users to indicate exactly what they are about to click. The function is activated by the thumb and middle finger.
- Interchangeable parts: An animation now shows how the light shield can be swapped.
- Calibration: During use, it can happen that the Vision Pro no longer tracks the eyes and hands. To do this, press the top button four times to open a calibration screen.
If you want to try the $3,500 Vision Pro, you’ll have to be patient. The spatial computer is not expected to hit the market until 2024.
