For 169 euros, the Apple Watch Series 3 seems to be a bargain. How good is the offer really?
Expensive Apple hardware? Not with Aldi! The discounter will soon be offering the Apple Watch Series 3 and the AirPods 3 at low prices. However, the offer is not suitable for everyone.
Apple rarely comes cheap. Even a cleaning cloth will lighten your wallet by 25 euros. The quality is usually right for that. iPhones, Apple Watches & Co. are often at the top of the leaderboards. However, if you want to save when you buy, you have to wait for good offers, for example from Aldi. On April 28, 2022, the discounter will sell the AirPods 3 and the Apple Watch Series 3 in the online shop. Both gadgets cost significantly less than 200 euros, but only one is new to buyers.

Apple AirPods 3 at Aldi
These are the AirPods 3. As usual, the wireless in-ears come in a wireless charging case, are protected against splash water according to IPX4 and support the 3D function. The headphones cost 199 euros from Apple and are available from Aldi for 179 euros. A good deal? The price comparison at idealo says: It works like this! Amazon currently has the headphones on offer for 170 euros. Other providers are even cheaper and offer the AirPods 3 from 161 euros. Aldi can’t keep up with that.

Refurbished Apple Watch Series 3
The case is different with the offered Apple Watch Series 3. The older model from 2017 is available from Apple in the 38 millimeter version for 219 euros, at idealo it costs at least 201 euros. Aldi calls only 169 euros. However, this is not a new model. The discounter sells the smartwatch as “Renewd Watch Series 3”. The secret behind the name is quickly revealed. It is a revised edition. The watch is said to have been “meticulously revised” and is “in technically perfect condition.” According to the information, the replaced parts are 100 percent original parts.

Here the Aldi offer beats that of Amazon. A refurbished Apple Watch Series 3 costs around 180 euros from a mail order company. It is not clear whether Amazon also uses original parts for upgrading. However, buyers have to reckon with the fact that the battery is no longer completely fresh and only has 80 percent of the capacity compared to the new watch.
The Aldi offer seems to be the better choice. Before you buy, however, you should consider that the watch will probably not receive an update to the upcoming watchOS 9 operating system in autumn 2022 due to its age. So you can’t hope for new functions. If future software updates are important to you, the Apple Watch SE is the better choice. However, the smartwatch is around 100 euros more expensive online.
