Apple has learned of a “ghost touch” bug affecting theApple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2. The latter, very annoying, can allow the device to perform unwanted actions, such as calling a correspondent or opening an application.

The Apple Watch is the best-selling smartwatch in the world today, and can be found on the wrists of millions of users. They appreciate the number of features available on the device, as well as the very comprehensive sports and health monitoring developed by Apple engineers. The Apple Watch is a product that will celebrate its tenth anniversary this year, and today seems quite mature, with few major problems detected by users. However, a bug was recently reported to the manufacturer’s teams and can be particularly annoying on a daily basis.

“Ghost touches” appearing on the latest Apple Watches

Apple has in fact been alerted of a bug that could be described as “ghost touches” and which would only affect the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2.

This software issue would cause movement in watchOS 9 interfaces, as well as random presses on certain applications and features. The support sheet, sent by Apple to its support teams, indicates in particular that the Apple Watch could call correspondents whose number is saved in the contact directory, without any action from the user.

Still in this note, Apple says it is aware of the problem and is carrying out various investigations to understand the origin of the bug and eradicate it.

No need to call the Apple Store to hope for a replacement!

If you have already experienced this type of bug on your Apple Watch Ultra 2 or your Apple Watch Series 9, unfortunately there is no fix yet. The latest update, watchOS 10.3.1., does not offer a solution, and you will have to wait at least watchOS 10.4 to see the problem resolved.

No need to go to an Apple Store either, since the brand’s employees are instructed not to repair or exchange watches affected by this software problem.

The only manipulation offered by the support teams is to simultaneously press the digital crown and the sleep button for 10 seconds, until you see the connected watch restart and the Apple logo appear again. This manipulation is a forced restart which can, occasionally, resolve some problems that have appeared after several weeks of use.

Apple Watch Series 9

  • A falling price…
  • Brighter and more comfortable screen outdoors
  • Minimum brightness at 1 nit to no longer disturb your neighbors at night

Apple is still building on its achievements with the Apple Watch Series 9. The watch does not shake up the smartwatch sector, but nevertheless brings many more improvements than last year’s lazy Series 8, hence its slightly lower rating. higher this year.

This new iteration indeed benefits from very appreciable new features such as a long-awaited and devilishly effective new processor, a brighter screen which has its little effect outdoors under a blazing sun as well as the Double Tap mode, not essential, but very practical for some quick actions.

Apple Watch Series 3, Series 4 or Series 5 users who wish to renew their watch for this model will get value for their money, and will immediately see the difference on a daily basis, while taking advantage of the (small) price reduction made by Apple for its new range. For others, it is difficult to recommend this model which brings few clear improvements. We advise them to wait another year, with their sights set on the supposed Apple Watch

The real progress this year ultimately remains watchOS 10 and its completely redesigned interface. And good news, the update is free and available on the majority of older models.
