The giant Apple could add a new string to its bow as rumors of a console project circulate after the recruitment of former Xbox engineers.
While the announcement of takeover of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft has had the effect of a bomb in the video game industry, it seems that Apple is also making its merry way in the world of gaming.
The creators of the iPhone and iPod obviously didn’t wait to introduce elements drawn from the culture of video games into their products, notably through the Apple Arcade. However, Apple could well go much further in this area and attack the game console market.
Apple is building a development team for a mystery console
On the occasion of xbox two podcast of January 21, the journalist Jez Corden mentioned a mysterious console project that would be developed by Apple. “I’ve been hearing for a while that Apple has approached engineers from Xbox to make their own console,” explains Corden.
While of course this is all just speculation at the time of this writing, Corden adds that he’s been hearing these kinds of rumors for a very long time now and isn’t sure if it’s “of a VR game or a Metaverse or something like that.”
Corden goes on to say that “that Apple brought back some of the engineers from Microsoft in order to explore the possibilities of making their own console” corn “that nothing says it will lead to anything.”

“Apple is exploring tons of things and they’ve already canceled the Apple Car project,” explains Corden, pointing out Apple’s policy of regularly developing secret projects. At this time, Corden has not revealed the source behind these rumors, but said that for the moment, Microsoft’s only real rival in this area is Chinese entertainment giant Tencent.
“Which company would really want to compete with them (Microsoft) on this level? The real answer in the end is Tencent. Microsoft is monitoring Tencent.”
