According to journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing a new range of AirPods headphones for the launch of the iPhone 15. A perfectly expected change.
We now know that Apple will launch its new range of iPhones on September 12, 2023 in the evening. The brand has sent its famous invitations to handpicked influencer journalists. The big news expected this year is the switch from iPhone to USB-C instead of Lightning. This is the second connector change in iPhone history, following the switch from the 30-pin dock port to Lightning in 2012.
But the iPhone is not the only device that Apple needs to renew. Over the years, the brand has integrated its Lightning connector into many products: the magic keyboard, the magic mouse, but also the AirPods earphone charging box. With the disappearance of Lightning on iPhone and iPad, the brand should very logically switch to USB-C on all of its products. It remains to know the calendar.

An update for the AirPods
Most of the conference will be dedicated to the iPhone 15 on the one hand and the new Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Series 9 on the other. However, it is during the September 12 conference that Apple should present a new version of its AirPods headphones.
It is unlikely that the firm will rely on many new features at this stage. For example, the AirPods Pro 2 are only 12 months on the market, and the brand likes to wait between generation changes. However, Apple should at least unveil a new version of its headphones with a USB-C charging box. The headphones wouldn’t change, but the case would. It will probably be possible to buy it separately. Let’s hope Apple doesn’t take advantage of this to drive up prices.
As for peripherals for Mac, we can think that the manufacturer will wait for an event dedicated to the iPad and the Mac to renew its accessories. According to rumors, such an event would be planned for the month of October in order to launch the first devices equipped with an Apple M3 chip.
