Mark June 10 in your calendar: this is the date when we may finally know how Apple plans to integrate artificial intelligence into its products.

The Apple firm announced this Tuesday its next conference dedicated to developers, the WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference). From next Monday, June 10, developers (mainly) and other interested people will be able to attend the event which will be held at the Apple Park in Cupertino. As always, it will also be broadcast live on the internet.

Developers in the spotlight

WWDC is usually the event where Apple presents the next major releases of its various operating systems. So expect demonstrations of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, WatchOS 11, tvOS 18 and VisionOS 2.0.

This event allows developers to meet experts and discover new tools and features to help them create applications for the Apple ecosystem.

“We’re excited to meet developers from around the world at WWDC24, an extraordinary week of technology and community,” said Susan Prescott, vice president of developer relations, in a press release. of Apple worldwide. “WWDC is about sharing new ideas and providing our amazing developers with innovative tools and resources to help them create something even more wonderful. »

Apple and AI

But this year’s WWDC promises something more, namely a spotlight on Apple’s work in AI. While generative AI is all around us, especially in products and services from companies like OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google, Apple has fallen behind in this area.

To try to catch up, the Cupertino company is reportedly working on its own AI technology with the aim of adding it to the next generation of iPhone and other products.

Expected announcements at WWDC could include AI-based assistance for services like Apple Music and a major, much-needed overhaul of Siri.

External partners?

But Apple may also have sought external partners for additional help. For example by partnering with Google to bring AI features powered by Gemini to the iPhone.

Recently, the company also purchased DarwinAI. The Canadian startup is working to make AI systems smaller and more efficient.

If you would like to attend Cupertino, California for WWDC 2024, you should be able to request your tickets now. For others, the event will be broadcast live on the Apple website like every year.
