Car traffic to the south has come to a standstill in front of the Gotthard road tunnel in Göschenen (UR).
The traffic jam on the highway has been growing steadily since the morning.
The metal column between Erstfeld and Göschenen is currently twelve kilometers long and the time lost is up to two hours, as the TCS reports on the short message service X.
To ensure that drivers do not avoid the traffic jam on the cantonal road, the entrances to Göschenen and Wassen have been closed by the Uri cantonal police.
