TO REMEMBER

Failure confirmed for Aquaman 2 which went down one place from its 2nd weekend of operation in the United States. He only earned $18.2 million more according to estimates, for a total of only $76.6 million.

For comparison, the first opus had accumulated 67 million in its first weekend. As a reminder, the first part exceeded one billion internationally in 2018.

For its 3rd weekend, Wonka returns to the top of the US box office: it records a little over $22 million more, for a cumulative total of $133.6 million. “Its total of $134.6 million in 17 days is close to that of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 2005 ($148.0 million) but still behind by 9%.

Abroad, the musical grossed $244.4 million, or 63% of its worldwide revenue. This is more than Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, of which 56% of revenues were collected outside the United States“, specify our colleagues at Boxoffice Pro.

Like last weekend, Migration is 3rd. It generates $17 million more.

Three new releases arrive in this top, including the new production by George Clooney which does not yet have a release date in France: The Boys in the Boat. The triumphant story of the University of Washington men’s rowing team, which stunned the world by winning gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The film comes in 6th.

Another novelty precedes it: the new reading of The Color Purple (4th) which will be released on January 24, 2024 here. Finally, note the entry of Ferrari in the ranking (8th). The biopic dedicated to Enzo Ferrari will be released on Prime Video in France (broadcast date not yet communicated).
