Aquaman 2 trailer: epic images with Jason Momoa, a baby and giant creatures

Five years after his first successful dip at the box office, with $1.148 billion in revenue worldwide, Jason Momoa is back as Aquaman in a sequel that is finally being revealed. And will be released in French theaters on December 20.

Launched in 2013 with Man of Steel, the DCEU is coming to an end, soon to be replaced by the universe that James Gunn and Peter Safran are currently shaping. And it is the one to whom he owes his biggest success ($1.148 billion in revenue worldwide) who will have the honor of closing the brand.

Five years after his first solo film (and underwater), Aquaman is back, still in the guise of Jason Momoa. And it sets out on the trail of the mysterious lost kingdom of the title, as its epic trailer shows.

Secondary antagonist of the first film, Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is here the main villain of the story. And he intends to take his revenge against the ruler of Atlantis, by attacking his family. Including his mother played by Nicole Kidman and this baby that we see in the images revealed this Thursday, September 14.

But what about his wife Mera, played by Amber Heard? The actress only appears furtively, for the duration of an image which suggests that the rumors suggesting a reduced role following her highly publicized trial with Johnny Depp were true. Which director James Wan denied, a few hours before the trailer was posted online.

“I have always pitched [le film] so from the start”specifies the director Varietyreturning to the reshoots of the feature film. “The first Aquaman revolved around the journey of Arthur and Mera. It was always intended that the second would focus on Arthur and Orm. The first was an action adventure romance. The second will be an action bromance and adventure.”

Faced with the plan of Black Manta, who will be equipped with his own trident for a face-to-face with the hero, Arthur ‘Aquaman’ Curry will have to call on all possible allies. Including his half-brother and former enemy Orm (Patrick Wilson), also back in the DC universe and in front of James Wan’s camera.

And their association will be visible in French theaters on December 20, which is confirmed by the posting of this trailer online, while the actors’ and screenwriters’ strike left the threat of a postponement looming.

This will not be the case and, a few days before Christmas, Aquaman 2 will offer us its share of giant creatures (including a translucent seahorse), humor and action. So that the final fireworks of the DCEU are total.
