Arcane: Riot confirms the arrival of new projects

Riot Games has invested in Fortiche Production, the studio behind Netflix’s hit series Arcane, opening the door to ambitious new projects.

If for many Internet users Squid Game was the series of the year 2021 on Netflix, for video game and animation lovers, Arcane is at the top.

Already renewed for a second season, the League of Legends-inspired series recently crushed its competitors at the Annie Awards, scooping up no less than 9 awards.

Following this success, Riot Games invested in the animation studio that brought Arcane to life, Fortiche Production, taking a nearly 10-year partnership to a whole new level.

New projects for Riot Games

After working with Fortiche on various animations in the League of Legends universe like Get Jinxed and K/DA’s POP/STARS video, Riot announced that they now have “a significant non-controlling interest” in the studio.

Brian Wright (Chief Content Officer at Riot) and Brendan Mulligan (Director of Corporate Development at Riot) will also join the studio’s board of directors.

But that’s not all, since it has been confirmed that Riot and Fortiche are currently collaborating on the second season of Arcane, along with other projects to be announced. It’s not clear what it is yet, but given the success of Arcane, we could see more League of Legends stories come to life.

The world of Runeterra has hundreds of League of Legends stories that could well become series.

It is also possible that we will also see other cinematic universes develop around the other Riot Games licenses.

Whether in the vast world of Runeterra or the mysterious, war-torn plains of Future Earth, it will be interesting to see what this new partnership means for Riot’s cinematic universe.

Either way, we can’t wait for more Riot TV series to binge-watch, over and over again.
