ArcelorMittal: will invest $1.8 billion in the Hamilton plant


(CercleFinance.com) – ArcelorMittal has confirmed to the Ontario government its plan to invest approximately C$1.8 billion in decarbonization technologies at the ArcelorMittal Dofasco plant in Hamilton.

This investment will reduce annual CO2 emissions from ArcelorMittal’s Hamilton, Ontario plant by approximately 3 million tonnes, representing approximately 60% of emissions. The project is expected to be completed by 2028.

The investment was contingent on financial support from the governments of Canada and Ontario.

The Government of Canada announced it would invest C$400 million in the project and the Government of Ontario announced it would invest C$500 million.
