Are you on Windows 11 21H2? Microsoft will push you to 22H2 automatically

Users of the original version of Windows 11you’ll soon be switching to the new update, all without even having to move a finger.

This week, we were able to discover a first glimpse of what the future File Explorer should look like. Today, Microsoft informs us that Windows 11 customers will soon all be in the same boat.

Windows 11 22H2: what assessment, four months later?

Less than a year after the official deployment of Windows 11, Microsoft released the 22H2 update for its operating system. It was in fact last September that this update was born. With further customization, the arrival of tabs within the file explorer or the great return of drag and drop in the taskbar, the “2022 Update” was above all manifested as the first step a long series of more or less substantial changes to come within Microsoft’s OS.

If the firm has undeniably kept its promises by enhancing its OS with various features over the weeks, it has also had, as very often, to confront a handful of bugs of all kinds. Between the various performance problems (on certain applications), the crashes of the task manager as well as the File Explorer which wants to be capricious, it is clear that the deployment of Windows 11 22H2 was somewhat… hectic.

Microsoft extends Windows 11 2022 Update to 21H2 users

On October 10, Windows 11 21H2 (which is actually the original version of Windows 11 launched on October 4, 2021), will officially see its support end. In other words, it is on this date that users of this version will no longer be able to benefit from security updates. Yes, already!

If Windows 11 21H2 customers still have nine months ahead of them before the expiry date, the Redmond firm has just confirmed that it has already started the update process to 2022 Update. In other words, devices currently running the original version of Windows 11 will have nothing to do since they will automatically receive the new update. Microsoft now considers the 22H2 version to be more safe and secure. This is the reason why the American firm has decided to rush its widespread deployment.

Those in a hurry among you can also rush now to Windows Update to check if they can not proceed manually to the update. According to Microsoft’s statements, the rollout of 22H2 will be staggered and theupdate will therefore attack, in the first place, devices that have been using Windows 11 for some time.
