The Ukrainian president is returning to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Argentine president, Javier Milei. The two men have already spoken on the telephone since the announcement of the results of the Argentine presidential election. The president-elect’s office released a statement after the call saying he had “proposed that Argentina host a summit between Ukraine and Latin America.” Russia is expected to be represented at the Argentine president’s inauguration ceremony by its ambassador to Argentina, Dmitry Feoktistov, Russian news agencies reported. The Kremlin “took note of a number of statements made by Javier Milei during the election campaign,” spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“But we will focus and judge him mainly on the statements he makes after the inauguration,” added Dmitri Peskov. Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Javier Milei on his victory, according to a Kremlin statement. A number of other foreign leaders are expected to attend the inauguration. The Spanish King Felipe, the Hungarian Viktor Orban, the Paraguayan Santiago Pena, the Uruguayan Luis Lacalle Pou and the Chilean Gabriel Boric are expected to be present.
