Arkema decarbonizes its Carling site and increases its production in renewables

(AOF) – Arkema announces the implementation by 2026 of a new patented purification technology on its acrylic production site in Carling (Moselle) in order to reduce its CO2 emissions by 20%, thus contributing to its climate plan based on a trajectory of 1.5°C by 2030. The chemist also announces that it is strengthening its production sites in the United States and China in the field of renewable energies: it will produce more additives for fuels and organic peroxides for solar panels.

Arkema has decided to increase its global production capacity for DMDS (dimethyl disulfide), an essential additive for the production of renewable fuels, at its Beaumont site in Texas. The group is the world leader in the production of these additives.

It finally announces the expansion of its organic peroxides site in Changshu in China, whose capacity will be multiplied by 2.5. This investment of around 50 million euros will allow the group to support its Asian customers in fast-growing markets, particularly in renewable energies. These peroxides play an important role in the energy transition as essential components in the manufacture of photovoltaic panels.
