Arnaud Tsamère: his depression, his divorce, his romantic failures… The comedian gives himself up without filter

Arnaud Tsamère signs his big comeback with his fourth solo show. In this new one-man-show, the comedian uses laughter to look back on the past few years, which have been particularly trying.

Arnaud Tsamère is back with a show that may well have never seen the light of day. “He was born when I wanted to stop making people laugh”, he said in an interview with Le Parisien. If the comedian came to consider an end to his career, it is because several aspects of his life were simultaneously at a standstill. “I was in a depressive phase, I no longer had respect for this profession which I found futile and accessory. I had nothing left to give, I felt empty, sad”he confided in the columns of the French daily.

If this show ended up seeing the light of day, revealing an Arnaud Tsamère rising from the ashes, it is essentially thanks to his friend Jérémy Ferrari, who was one of his greatest supportersand which greatly encouraged him to get back on stage. “He assured me that what I had been through was great material for a comedy show. He convinced me to try writing, encouraged me to move. He really gave me a slap”remembered the actor, who experienced a family death.

Arnaud Tsamère about Margot Laffite: “She wants to come to the show, but I will brief her before”

In his one-man-show, Arnaud Tsamère returns with humor to his divorce with Margot Laffite, which occurred in 2017 after two years of marriage. If the wound of the divorce now seems closed, he admits having done violence to approach this subject on the stage of La Cigale in Paris. However, he does not want to define his show as therapeutic. It had to remain a comedy show, that people laugh without embarrassment. The process was long, painful even, we spent hours trying to write funny things about what affected me”he explained to the Parisian.

His divorce with the mother of his son made him draw a final line on the eternal love that he had always idealized, because of the couple formed by his mother and father for fifty years. If Arnaud Tsamère claims to have missed his marriage, the happy dad recognizes that his divorce is a success. “It was a big and long work of acceptance for me. She wants to come to the show, but I’ll brief her first. I want her to be sure it’s just humorconfessed the comedian who, in 2015, had promised not to do a sketch on fatherhood.
