In parallel with the development of its generative AI SLABOpenAI is also developing a tool that will detect images produced using its artificial intelligence.

Much has been said about the toxic potential of image-generating AI in 2023, a toxicity that their creators have worked hard to reduce by putting in place safeguards. But although it has fortunately become difficult to create images based on dictators or pornographic content, there still remains the question of the excessive plausibility of certain productions, which could mislead us. So so that the public always sees the difference between reality and DALL-E’s creations, OpenAI has developed a new tool.

A tool that is already effective 99% of the time

The announcement must have pleased many people. During the last Tech Live Event organized last week, the technical director of OpenAI Mira Murati explained to the Wall Street Journal that his company had developed a tool for detecting images generated by the DALL-E AI.

During the interview carried out on stage, he affirmed that the tool was already “ 99% reliable ”, and that it continued to be tested internally in order to further improve its effectiveness. Although few details have been provided on this new weapon, it is possible to find traces of it directly on the DALL-E 3 page, on the OpenAI website.

The miracle solution… or not?

We are experimenting with a provenance classifier », Explains the company on this page. OpenAI is the latest to address the question of instruments that can help sort between humans and artificial intelligence. Google had already announced last September the implementation of its SynthID software, intended to recognize images produced by AI.

The fact remains that for the moment, each time an identification solution has been put forward, its limits have been demonstrated very quickly, like the famous watermarks. Will the solution that OpenAI will propose disappoint in turn? Will working with its own artificial intelligence allow the company to create a more robust tool?

The best AI to generate your content

The emergence of artificial intelligence as a mainstream tool has opened up numerous possibilities for all content producers. Text, image, sound… This new fashionable technology can now provide assistance in many areas, and facilitate work in the most difficult stages of creation. And with an ever-increasing offering, it is important to distinguish which tools provide real added value. So you don’t waste hours trying everything the Google results pages offer!
