A young woman accuses Ary Abittan of rape. After 48 hours in police custody, the comedian and actor was brought before a magistrate from the Paris prosecutor’s office.
Sunday, October 31, 2021, Ary Abittan, accused of rape, was placed in police custody, before being indicted on Tuesday, October 2. The woman who accuses him is a 23-year-old Parisian employee of a digital platform, who told the police officers to have an ongoing relationship with the actor, without being his official companion. She says that, on the evening of October 30, 2021 and after a telephone exchange with the actor and humorist Ary Abittan, she joined him at his home located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, in the Champs-Élysées district.
Once there, the couple reportedly had sex “protected”, according to the complainant. But during a second report, the situation would have degenerated: Ary Abittan would have imposed a sexual practice that she would have explicitly refused from the first report. According to The Parisian, she would have mentioned in her complaint “facts relating to a degrading and unwilling sexual practice”. Point evokes on his side “an unconventional relationship between a man and a woman”. The actor would have continued the sexual intercourse ignoring the refusal of his partner.
Ary Abittan denies rape charges
Ary Abittan, he denies the facts and said at first that he did not know the reasons for his custody. According to him, the young woman and himself would have taken a shower together, then the complainant would then have left the apartment, the actor joining relatives at a party.
According to a source close to the investigation, the young woman did not initially wish to file a complaint so as not to “taint the actor’s career”, but simply report the facts in a handrail. But the criminal office of the Paris prosecutor’s office was alerted and the judicial police then went to Ary Abittan to arrest him and place him in police custody. The actor was then brought before a magistrate from the Paris prosecutor’s office. Now, Ary Abittan is indicted for rape and placed under judicial supervision.
