Assa Traoré poses for Stella McCartney's engaged collection

As part of her Manifesto from A to Z, the British designer has created a limited series of committed t-shirts. French activist Assa Traoré was chosen to embody the letter A in tribute to her brother.

Now known for her commitment against police violence, Assa Traoré continues the fight to do justice to her brother Adama, who died in 2016 following a strong arrest by the national gendarmerie. Founder of the "Truth and Justice for Adama" committee, the young activist has agreed to pose for the latest committed collection of Stella McCartney. As part of her Manifesto from A to Z and in collaboration with 26 artists, the British designer has designed a limited series of t-shirts.

"Each of the 26 letters opens a conversation about our values, embodied by a selection of international artists that I have chosen with care. Among them, old friends but also talents of the new generation that I want to support by offering them my audience.", explains the stylist on her internet.

A letter associated with each artist

For this project, each artist has agreed to embody the letter of the alphabet of their choice in order to honor the association he defends. It is with a t-shirt printed with the letter A that Assa Traoré has chosen to pose. If one could imagine that the letter A is an obvious reference to his brother Adama, it is in fact associated with the first letter of the word "accountable" ("responsible" in French). A value proudly represented by the French activist.
