The National Assembly voted on Friday to double the tax-free aid that companies can pay to employees to cover their fuel costs, raising the ceiling from 200 to 400 euros.

The deputies voted for an LREM amendment which doubles fuel aid by 200,400 euros, as part of the first reading of the draft amending budget for 2022. It has been increased from 200,600 for the Overseas Territories, via a sub-amendment deputies from the opposition group LIOT.

On the left, the deputies deplored a measure that did not go far enough. On the right, LR asked for the same doubling of aid.

Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne opened the door on Thursday to this doubling, and the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire confirmed it on Friday, specifying that it would be possible to combine it with the payment of the transport subscription. collective.

This boost was provided for in the preliminary versions of the purchasing power measures, but had finally disappeared from the amending finance bill (PLFR).

The return of this provision comes as the executive and the Republicans are trying to reach an agreement in the face of the high level of fuel prices, within the framework of discussions in the Assembly.

The deputies also adopted another LREM amendment which intends to promote an increase in the sustainable mobility package paid by employers: the ceiling for accumulation with transport subscriptions will increase from 600 to 800 euros.
