Five live adaptations for Asterix from Claude Zidi’s film in 1999 to the latest opus released at the start of the year. And many guests appeared throughout these feature films. So, can you match each of these stars to the right film?
Just as with the world of comics created by Uderzo and Goscinny, many characters could be seen during the five live-action adaptations of the world of Asterix on the big screen.
Some of them are of course present in all the episodes, starting with the legendary duo at the center of the adventures: Asterix and Obelix. Between them, these characters called on no less than six different actors to play them.
Concerning Obélix, we have long believed that Gérard Depardieu would be the one and only interpreter of the man known above all for having fallen into the pot of magic potion when he was little.
It is in fact this actor that we discovered for the first time in the skin of the character in a live adaptation, in the first film Asterix and Obelix against Caesar. A role that he then returned to three times, for the following three opuses, before finally giving up his place for the latest film by Guillaume Canet, who decided to offer the role to his long-time friend Gilles Lellouche .
On the Asterix side, on the other hand, many more actors slipped into the shoes of the legendary little Gaul. The first of them was Christian Clavier for the first two films, under the direction of Claude Zidi first in 1999 then Alain Chabat three years later.
It was then Clovis Cornillac who took over for Asterix at the Olympic Games from directors Frédéric Forestier and Thomas Langmann. It was then the turn of Edouard Baer, already familiar with the world of Asterix after a short but memorable appearance in the role of Otis with this cult replica of the “good or bad situation” in Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra.
And finally it is Guillaume Canet who, in his own film, is to date the last actor to have played this famous character from the comic strips. But alongside these performers in the duo, many other stars have also had the opportunity to appear in one or more films in the saga. Can you associate the right titles with these twelve stars?
