Citroën Ami: the electric quadricycle is evolving in small steps

Arriving four years ago on the light quadricycle market, the Citroën Ami immediately made a place for itself thanks to an attractive price compared to electric models from license-free car manufacturers, for example.

Citroën brings some new features to its electric cart, which has become the best friend of the most expensive private high schools. Previously available in a single blue-gray shade, the Ami’s raw plastic bodywork changes to Night Sepia, a sort of gray-brown. Could this be to better stand out from its new cousin Fiat Topolino, which imposes the green-turquoise color?

Furthermore, the Ami range is now topped with the Peps finish, which replaces the old Tonic and Pop levels. It can be recognized in particular by its black strip between the front lights decorated with double yellow stripes, from the Ami Tonic, from which it also takes the floral design hubcaps. The new Ami Peps also sports an imposing spoiler and exclusive stickers.

A new kit to transform the Ami into a utility vehicle, without (completely) sacrificing the passenger seat

The only practical developments concern the utility version of the Ami. The old Ami Cargo is giving way to a layout option, such as Citroën has recently offered to make the Ami accessible to people with reduced mobility. Named My Cargo Kit, it allows you to transform your Ami into a utility vehicle, but while retaining two seats.

The kit consists of a partition flap between the driver’s area and the passenger area, as well as support boards for loading, covering the passenger seat and footwell. A tarpaulin also allows the goods to be covered. The whole thing can be stored behind the passenger seat, so that two people can travel when the loading space is not being used. Citroën announces a loading volume of 340 l, of which 200 l can be covered by said tarpaulin, for the Ami equipped with the My Cargo Kit option. For comparison, the Ami Cargo offered 400 liters of loading volume, but it completely sacrificed the passenger seat.

It remains to know the prices of this slightly modified Citroën Ami, as well as that of the My Cargo Kit option.
