A 22-year-old student died of serious injuries almost a week after the mass panic at the Astroworld Festival.

The number of deaths after the mass panic at the Astroworld music festival in Houston, Texas last Friday has increased. As reported by the Washington Post, the student Bharti Shahani succumbed to her injuries just over a week after the accident. She was 22 years old.

Bharti Shahani is the ninth person to die at the festival organized by rapper Travis Scott (30). The concert, which was attended by 50,000 fans, caused a mass panic after several people pushed forward to the stage. The age of the dead ranges from 14 to 27 years.

Relatives against organizers to blame Travis Scott

James Lassiter, attorney for the Shahani family, said at a news conference that the computer science student had “lost the battle against the horrific, terrible injuries she suffered”. The 22-year-old is said to have been in the intensive care unit at the Houston Methodist Hospital. She was artificially ventilated and had no more brain activity before she died. Previously, she is said to have suffered several heart attacks.

Lassiter blames the organizers around Travis Scott for the death of Bharti Shahani. “This was a huge farce from start to finish. From the performers to the ticket sales, everyone involved got a six. It was failed at all levels.”

Mohit Bellani, a cousin of the victim, also accused the organizers. Too many tickets have been sold, and a hundred people allegedly were able to sneak in without a card. The security was overwhelmed. “You did this to Bharti,” he said, referring to the organizations.

Another visitor injured in the panic sued Travis Scott and superstar Drake, 35. When they performed together, they should have animated the crowd to come closer to the stage. Travis Scott has announced that it will pay the victims’ funeral expenses.
