Families don’t want Travis Scott’s money for funerals

The families of victims of the Astroworld disaster become clear: They don’t want Travis Scott to pay for the funerals. That is humiliating.

Just three days after the accident in which ten people died, Scott announced that he would pay for the funerals. Some of the bereaved now rejected this suggestion, sometimes with clear words. This is reported by the music magazine “Rolling Stone”. Among other things, the family of the youngest, nine-year-old victim announced that they would not accept the money.
One wants to let the courts decide which measures would be fair to the victims. Another four victim families made the same decision, it is said. “It wasn’t an offer that we seriously considered,” said one of the lawyers. In addition, the funeral expenses are the least of his clients’ worries. For the bereaved, the main thing is that such a disaster can never happen again.

Scott’s offer was “degrading and inappropriate” given the scale of the tragedy. Another attorney was also made clear about the offer: “Let the families grieve and shut up,” he told Scott. His clients did not want to reimburse any costs for the funeral either. Scott’s legal team has not yet made a statement on this matter.
The tragedy occurred on November 9th at the Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas. During a performance by the rapper, who is himself one of the initiators of the event, there was a mass panic. Ten people died and hundreds more were injured, some seriously. At least 125 victims are now trying to bring both the organizing company and Travis Scott himself to justice. According to media reports, the total compensation claimed has so far been around 660 million euros.
