Asus: the next generation of ROG Phone will arrive in April

While it has primarily made a name for itself with its wide range of computers, including its gaming-oriented ROG models, Asus also offers a few smartphones. Its latest consumer model, the Zenfone 9, convinced us, both by its performance and its compact format. But it is above all with its mobiles dedicated to gamers, the ROG Phones, that the Taiwanese has established itself in this segment. Asus announces today the presentation of its next generation stamped 7 in less than three weeks.

The ROG Phone 7, if they follow the trajectory of the 6 series, will be at least two in number, a Pro version generally accompanying the standard version of the smartphone. For the time being, Asus does not say more about the devices, except that it is to be expected that they will impose themselves as “phone[s] ultimate game[s]”. They should logically be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, to succeed the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 of the ROG Phone 6, and benefit from an Amoled screen with a high refresh rate, probably 165 Hz, like their elders, or even more. Asus also mentions a “improved cooling system”, which should serve both the in-game performance and the general autonomy of its devices. Finally, expect a futuristic design marked by “contrasting materials”.

The Asus conference will be broadcast online on April 13 at 2 p.m. at this address.
