At races on the North Sea coast: home game for championship leader Loek Hartog

Home game for leaders Loek Hartog

The Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will set up its paddock next weekend (23rd to 25th June 2023) on the Dutch North Sea coast. As part of the DTM race at the Circuit Zandvoort, the one-make cup will be held for the fifth and sixth round of the season with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. For championship leader Loek Hartog, the circuit, which is also used by Formula 1, is something of a second home.

The forthcoming third round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland at the Circuit Zandvoort is a home game for the four Dutch drivers. “I live less than 20 kilometers from Zandvoort. I’m on the race track there almost every week,” describes Loek Hartog.

The 20-year-old has already won two races of the season in the 375 kW (510 hp) Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of the GP Elite team and is currently leading the drivers’ standings. “I’m coming to Zandvoort as the leader of the standings, everyone is chasing me. The team is also expecting more than 100 guests. But I won’t let that make me nervous – my nerves can take it easily,” grins the racing driver, who is just under two meters behind.

Dutch team GP Elite in the favorite role

One of Hartog’s most dangerous hunters is his teammate, Larry ten Voorde, just five points behind. “It’s about a two-hour journey,” explains the two-time Carrera Cup champion from Enschede. “Nevertheless, the races in Zandvoort are of course a home game for me too. I’ve won on this track several times. One or two more wins wouldn’t be bad.”

Last year, for example, ten Voorde won one of the two Zandvoort races of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. The second victory went to Laurin Heinrich. The Würzburg native, who comes from the talent pool of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, will also be contesting two races in Zandvoort this coming weekend – albeit with a Porsche 911 GT3 R in the DTM.

The Dutch Formula 1 circuit with its unique steep curve is one of the favorites of many drivers. The 4.259-kilometre circuit offers an unusually large number of overtaking opportunities. Sand on the track and strong winds at times pose a particular challenge. “We tested in Zandvoort before the race. I think I’m optimally prepared,” reveals Harry King. The Briton from the German team Allied Racing travels to the holiday resort near Amsterdam in third place in the table.

“There is always a very special atmosphere in Zandvoort. The many fans in a holiday mood, the location of the race track in the middle of the dunes – it will definitely be a great weekend. I’m curious to see whether Loek Hartog and GP Elite can use their home advantage,” says Hurui Issak ahead, the project manager Porsche Carrera Cup Germany.

Promotion of young talent with the Talent Pool

In addition to the driver and team rankings, points are also awarded in the Rookies and ProAm categories in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. Among the newcomers (rookies), ten talents from six nations compete against each other. The table lead is currently held by Theo Oeverhaus from CarTech Bonk Motorsport. Fourth in the drivers’ classification, the man from Osnabrück is also the best-placed driver from the talent pool. The Bulgarian Georgi Donchev from the ProfilDoors by Huber Racing team is currently claiming first position in the ProAm classification.

The Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland on TV and the Internet

A media partner of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany is the TV broadcaster ProSieben. On the Zandvoort weekend, viewers can watch the series “ran racing: Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland” magazine (Saturday and Sunday, 12:55 p.m.) and see highlights from the previous races. All 16 rounds of the season will be shown live on the internet at www.ran.de as well as on the Porsche Motorsport Hub (https://motorsports.porsche.com/germany/de/category/carreracup) and the one-make cup YouTube channels. In addition, the news channel ntv broadcasts the program “PS – Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland” with summaries of the races.
