At Red Bull Salzburg – Junuzovic deserves a fitting farewell

“Krone” editor Christoph Nister comments on current events at series champions Red Bull Salzburg in his column “Injury time”.

Red Bull Salzburg have lost their playful shine in recent weeks. The 7-1 debacle in the Champions League against FC Bayern still seems to be hovering over the city of Mozart, promotion to the cup final by winning a penalty shootout at WAC was quite flattering. In terms of sport, the double winner is still on the right track , as not only underpinned by the ninth cup final en suite, but also the mega lead of eleven points in the Bundesliga. Although “Mister Understatement” Matthias Jaissle continues to act as a reminder, the 33-year-old German will probably not be able to imagine that his troupe will collapse in such a way that they will lose the master’s plate – and certainly not want to. Undoubtedly will be but the cops are trying to playfully shift up a gear. One who would be predestined for this is Zlatko Junuzovic. It is now official that the 34-year-old has to leave the series champion at the end of the season. However, it is unclear how many more appearances Jaissle will allow him in the season finale. The veteran has been training fully with the team for quite some time but has never been considered by the manager. The Bulls still have ten games to play, and on Sunday (2:30 p.m.) the WAC are looking for revenge for the loss of the Cup. Junuzovic deserved a dignified farewell.
