It was already noticed on Wednesday that the boat was in danger of sinking near Schiefling in Lake Wörthersee. On Thursday the tilted position was even worse: the watercraft, which had been converted for barrier-free use, was already half sunk and hanging to the side in the water. The Klagenfurt professional fire department and the fire departments in Krumpendorf, Schiefling and Velden responded – with emergency divers. “Lifting balloons are used for this. They are filled with compressed air under water and fixed and then push the boat up,” explains Wolfgang Germ from the professional fire department. During this operation, the FF Hauptwache Klagenfurt took over the standby.
