At the last second – Two police officers saved siblings from the inferno

Rescue at the very last second! Two siblings were trapped by flames in a residential building. At the last moment, the first two police officers who arrived managed to save the lives of two siblings by placing a ladder on a bench and carrying the sister out.

That was close! Sunday, 5 a.m., fire alarm in Schwabengasse in Linz’s Keferfeld. When the first police patrol arrived, flames were already shooting out of a window on the first floor of the house. Four people were able to leave the house on their own, but a brother (21) and his sister (18) were trapped by the flames. Police officers gave encouragement. Two police officers, Immanuel K. and Jonas C., helped the two from the ground to keep calm and to lean it as far out of the window as possible to escape the dangerous smoke. As more and more flames shot out of the other windows, the officials realized that there was no time to lose. They found a ladder in the garden of the house, but it was too short to reach the window. A ladder on a bench was the way out. Then one of the two discovered a bench, which they positioned in front of the window. They then placed the ladder on it so that the 21-year-old brother could get to safety. They carried the 18-year-old. Because his 18-year-old sister could no longer do it on her own, one of the two police officers carried her out over the ladder and into her brought security. After initial treatment, all six residents were taken to a hospital in Linz. Fire quickly under control. The fire department’s respiratory protection teams quickly managed to extinguish the fire inside the house, while the flames from the outside were successfully prevented from spreading from the facade to the roof. The fire was then quickly brought under control. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
