Nagelsmann wants to have the lumberjack shirt auctioned off

It wasn’t just the win against the USA that was reported after Julian Nagelsmann’s national coaching debut. His lumberjack shirt also caused a stir – too much, in the coach’s opinion. Now he wants to have the item of clothing auctioned off at the RTL telethon.

Julian Nagelsmann will have the distinctive lumberjack shirt from his debut game as national soccer coach auctioned off for a good cause. “Hopefully a few euros will come together,” said the 36-year-old before the national soccer team’s friendly match against Mexico on Wednesday (2 a.m.) in Philadelphia. Nagelsmann announced that the blue, gray and yellow shirt will now be auctioned off at the RTL telethon.

After the 3-1 win against the USA, there was a lot of discussion about the look of the DFB head coach at the game on Saturday in Hartford. Too much, as Nagelsmann thinks. “There was a bit of fanfare,” he said.

Nagelsmann also repeatedly attracted attention with special outfits as a club coach in Hoffenheim, Leipzig and Munich. The expected donation for a good cause fills him with “more feelings of happiness than if everyone reports about my clothes,” says Nagelsmann.

He will no longer wear the shirt for the game against Mexico so that it isn’t “worn so much.” The national coach left it open which outfit he would wear on the sidelines at Lincoln Financial Field. He may choose a very simple look.
