The first plaintiffs testified Monday at the trial of Lionel and Carnot Guedj, accused of crippling hundreds of mostly disadvantaged patients. The victims denounce their excruciating pain and their “discomfort to smile”.
A worried young woman takes the stand on Monday morning. It has now been a week since the trial of doctors Guedj, father and son, accused of having mutilated hundreds of patients, started in Marseille. Like most plaintiffs, Sophie (1) had not seen the two practitioners for years, prosecuted for “intentional violence resulting in mutilation” and “fraud”. From the first day of the hearing, she had to cash in on their line of defense. While the legal experts pointed out that healthy teeth had been altered without real justification, they maintain that they may have made therapeutic errors, but never “for the purpose of harming”. The whole hammered in front of the court not, sometimes, without a certain arrogance.
