After a first day marked by the statements of the accused Nicolas Zepeda who had immediately proclaimed his innocence, the hearing resumed on Wednesday with the hearing of the victim’s knowledge at the university.

Classmates at university
The penultimate person known to have seen Narumi Kurosaki alive, a classmate who had walked her home from her dance class on Sunday, December 4, 2016, described her that day as “rather cheerful, not sad“. The next day, Narumi disappeared. But this disappearance had only been reported to the police by the UniversityDecember 13 at 11:45 a.m.“, recalled the president of the court, Matthieu Husson. Head of international relations at the University, Cédric Castor, recalled at the helm of having been himself “warned by the CLA of his absence because relatives were worried, on December 12and went to the police the next day. “But at the time, I had no reason to worry too much“, he underlined.
The state of the student room that Narumi occupied in a university residence as it appeared after his disappearance remains one of the key points of this case. Inside, said the witnesses, everything was in order, including her handbag, her computer and her winter coat, while the cold was biting in this winter of 2016 in Besançon.

Throughout these testimonies, the accused remained silent. “It’s been five years since Narumi disappeared and since then it’s been a nightmare“, had declared Tuesday Nicolas Zepeda, rejecting from”all (his) strengththe charges against him. But for the prosecution, the scenario is quite different: not supporting the break, the Chilean had come knowingly to Besançon to find Narumi Kurosaki there. He would then have suffocated her before disposing of her body in a forest in the Jura and returning to Chile from where he was extradited to France in the summer of 2020.
