After the Atari VCS finally released in 2020 after years of waiting, it is a new modern version of the Atari 2600 that is talking about it and will delight fans of retro games at the end of the year. Indeed, Atari And PLAION have just announced that pre-orders for the Atari 2600+ have just openedenough to prepare for its arrival on the shelves on November 17 at the price of €119.99. It’s much cheaper than the replica in LEGO period model and fully functional!
This console, which should not be confused with the machine launched in 2017, is a modern version of the 1977 Atari 2600, capable of running the cartridges of the time and those of the Atari 7800 released in 1986 via emulation, the full list of backwards compatible titles having been broadcast. Collectors who still own the many games released will therefore be able to enjoy them on a modern screen, since this Atari 2600+ connects via an HDMI port and has a widescreen mode. It is supplied with the appropriate cable, another for power supply, a controller CX40+ and a cartridge containing the 10 games listed below:
- Adventure;
- Combat;
- Dodge ‘Em;
- Haunted House;
- Maze Craze;
- Missile Command;
- Realsports Volleyball;
- Surround;
- Video Pinball;
- Yars’ Revenge.
Note that its dimensions are 80% of the original, making it smaller, while the cartridge port has been enlarged and the logo Atari lights up. Moreover, the new controllers CX40+ And CX30+ have DB9 connectors allowing them to be used on vintage consoles !
