Attack from behind – Surveillance video shows knife attack in Carinthia

In broad daylight, in the middle of downtown Klagenfurt, a 62-year-old was literally stabbed on Saturday – with such force that even the blade of the knife bent. A surveillance camera captured the gruesome scenes. The victim was in stable health after emergency surgery on Sunday. The 28-year-old suspect has now been taken to the prison.

As reported, a violent crime occurred on Saturday not far from the Klagenfurt City Arkaden. A 28-year-old Armenian is said to have stabbed a 62-year-old woman at least 40 times with a knife. As part of an immediate search, the suspect turned himself in to the officers a little later, while the victim had to undergo an emergency operation. This can be seen in the video. The almost one-minute video from a surveillance camera shows in detail how the alleged perpetrator approaches his victim from behind with a kitchen knife in his hand . Again and again he stabs the 62-year-old. 39 seconds pass before a 62-year-old passer-by pulls the attacker away from the woman. At the end of the sequence, you see the injured woman getting up. Nevertheless, she had to undergo an emergency operation in the Klagenfurt Clinic. Due to the brutality of the scenes, the “Krone” decided not to publish the video material. The perpetrator and the victim did not know each other. According to the investigators, the kitchen knife seized on Saturday was the murder weapon. The attacker had stabbed so hard with it that the twelve centimeter long blade even bent. The investigations also confirmed that the victims and perpetrators did not know each other. Apparently the act wasn’t planned. In any case, the influence of drugs or alcohol had already been ruled out, the executive said.
