Attack on Jehovah? – Leibnitz: Two cars exploded by explosive devices

In Leibnitz (Styria) two cars were apparently blown up with explosive devices on Friday evening. Nobody was injured. State security is now investigating that there could be a religious background.

Between 6:45 p.m. and 9 p.m., the currently unknown perpetrators are said to have mounted the explosive devices on the cars. One of the explosive devices is believed to have detonated around 8 p.m. A second went off when a vehicle owner had already driven a few kilometers, around 9 p.m. The man was alone in the car. He was not injured, but the car was damaged. According to police spokesman Markus Lamb, one should not imagine the detonation as in an action film. “But you can already be gone if that happens while you’re driving.” Motive unclearWhy were the explosive devices attached? The police are currently investigating. “At the same time, a Jehovah’s Witnesses faith group was having a prayer meeting nearby, which both vehicle owners attended,” says Lamb. However, we are still groping in the dark about the motif. “Everything is possible. A conflict with the parking lot, something personal. “Police are not taking the incident lightly,” Lamb says. At the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and the Fight Against Terrorism (LVT), a separate investigative group was entrusted with the case. Other establishments of Jehovah’s Witnesses are now being informed and, if necessary, also monitored.
