Attacker pulls out knife – argument in park escalates because of football match

A football match in Vienna-Margareten ended with a dramatic turn of events on Sunday. A 38-year-old man is said to have threatened a 26-year-old with a knife because he felt the man was too loud during the match. The older man was provisionally arrested.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Einsiedler Park, when a football match was taking place in the cage there. Witnesses reported that the 38-year-old was becoming increasingly upset by the noise and behavior of the younger man. Eventually, things escalated: the man pulled out a vegetable knife and threatened his 26-year-old opponent. The alerted police officers were quickly on the scene and arrested the Kosovan-born man. The knife, which the perpetrator had hidden in a nearby bush, was immediately confiscated. Attacker violated weapons banThe 38-year-old partially confessed to the officers and was reported while at liberty. The man was already banned from carrying weapons.
