Gabriel Attal will travel again to Pas-de-Calais on Thursday to help flood victims, for whom he had reserved his first trip and to whom he had promised to return, spokesperson Prisca Thevenot announced on Wednesday.
The head of government had made a promise to the victims of the floods. He told them: I won’t forget you. A month later, the Prime Minister is keeping his promise. He will return tomorrow (Thursday) to Pas-de-Calais, alongside the Minister of Ecological Transition, Christophe Bchu, said the government representative during the press report of the Council of Ministers.
Mr. Attal will monitor the implementation of the decisions taken and the results over time, she added.
The trip is announced while the appointment of the second half of Gabriel Attal’s government is hoped, without certainty, for Wednesday.
Pas-de-Calais, affected by several episodes of flooding, was placed on orange alert for rain-flooding on Wednesday, due to bad weather which fell again on already saturated soils.
The Prime Minister is expected to meet traders and visit ongoing development work, then have a public exchange with local elected officials, residents and relief forces, a government source said.
Mr. Attal went to Pas-de-Calais on the day of the transfer of power with his predecessor Elisabeth Borne, January 9.

In front of elected officials, during a meeting outside the press, he notably confirmed the elimination of the double insurance deductible for affected households and businesses, as well as the mobilization of a budget of at least 50 million euros to the reconstruction of public facilities in the affected municipalities. This measure had already been announced in November, at the time of Storm Ciaran.
He also announced a reinforced emergency fund for farmers and market farmers, with an increase in the aid ceiling up to 20,000 euros.
The government has released nearly 60 million euros for reconstruction, and an emergency fund of 80 million euros for farmers and market gardeners, recalled Ms. Thevenot.
