Virtual reality and augmented reality are increasingly fascinating manufacturers around the world. This is particularly the case for Samsung, which has just registered two new brands: Galaxy Glasses and Galaxy Ring.

While rumors around the Galaxy Z Fold 5 continue to circulate, the Korean seems to be about to join the wonderful world of mixed reality.

When Samsung prepares to invade mixed reality

Just a few days ago, Sony finally released its PlayStation VR2. The Japanese manufacturer, which is not at its first attempt in virtual reality, offers consumers a new generation headset with solid arguments, equipped with particularly advanced technology. In another register, Apple is working on a mixed reality headset which should soon be unveiled. Moreover, the Apple brand is currently preparing a second VR / AR headset, at a lower and more accessible price.

Yesterday, our colleagues from 9to5Google spotted in their columns the filing of two new brands in the large Galaxy family, namely Glasses and Ring. What could it be exactly? According to the first clues, it would be a question of an extended reality headset/glasses.

Samsung files trademarks for Galaxy Glasses and Galaxy Ring

For the time being, several mysteries still revolve around what exactly the Galaxy Glasses brand could correspond to. Indeed, the filing is intended to be particularly extensive and indicates that ” the trademark registration is intended to cover categories of virtual reality headsets; augmented reality headsets; listeners; smart phones; smart glasses “. Just last month, Samsung expressed its desire to offer mixed reality hardware when it announced a partnership with Qualcomm and Google. On the other hand, it is still impossible for us to measure the real ambition of the project, nor to determine in what form the object will appear.

That’s not all, Samsung has also filed a second name: that of Galaxy Ring. This time, the official USPTO document states that the trademark covers ” categories of wearable smart devices in the nature of a smart ring for tracking, measuring, monitoring and uploading health, fitness and sleep information; smart rings; smart phones “. If it is still uncertain whether the name Ring is in one way or another attached to the Galaxy Glasses, this connected ring would have the main interest of collecting data relating to your health (fitness, sleep, etc.).

For information, the two new brands have been registered in the United States, thus suggesting a release on American territory. While waiting to learn more about what Samsung has in store for us in terms of mixed reality, we will therefore have to, as so often, arm ourselves with a little (a lot?) of patience.
